Zithromax (Azithromycin) treats certain infections caused by bacteria (bronchitis; pneumonia; sexually transmitted diseases and infections of the ears, lungs, skin and throat). Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops the growth of bacteria. It does not treat colds, flu, or other viral infections.
